Consumers Energy Power

Severe weather with thunderstorms in Michigan left over 100,000 customers of Consumers Energy without power. The number of trees and power lines that fell down made it impossible to restore electricity supply immediately.

Consumers Energy is a subsidiary of CMS Energy Corp and based on their report about 104,000 of their customers were without power. From these about 35,500 were in Kent County, 11,000 were in Ionia County and 8,850 were reported in Midland County.

Another energy supplier in Michigan, DTE Energy Co., admitted that about 12,000 consumers were not receiving any electricity. The affected counties were Lapeer County with 4,100 outages and Ingham County\ with about 3,400 counts.

Consumers Energy reported in a news update today, that there are still about 73,000 of their customers without any power supply. A total of 112,000 consumers were affected by the power outages.

The numbers of consumers still waiting to be reconnected to the grid are: Allegan (7,880); Bay (390); Clare (370); Eaton (200); Genesee (7,700); Gratiot (1,450); Ionia (9,500); Kalamazoo (300); Kent (31,000); Midland (4,600); Montcalm (3,800); Muskegon (1,700); Newaygo (550); Oakland (250); Ottawa (850); Saginaw (780) and Shiawassee (600).
