The Ryder Cup tournament which has been making headlines for a couple of weeks will finally hit off on the Celtic Manor Twenty Ten Course in Newport, Wales. One of golf’s biggest tournaments will start at exactly 4:00 am ET on American television.This year’s Ryder Cup has been one of the biggest in the tournament’s history. The Tournament between Team USA and Team Europe was supposed to kick off last Friday but the strong rains led to its cancellation and reschedule to the period October 1st to October 3rd.
The main competitors from who everyone will like to beat are Tiger Woods from USA and Stricker from Europe. Also the Molinary brothers in the European team haven’t played to the satisfaction of Captain Colin Montgomerie.
The American team picked by Captain Corey Pavin includes Tiger Woods, Stewart Cink, Zach Johnson and young star Ricky Fowler. The team from Europe chosen by Colin Montgomerie includes Phil Mickelson, Hunter Mahan, Bubba Watson, Steve Stricker, Jim Furyk, Jeff Overton, Dustin Johnson and Matt Kuchar.
Captain Corey Pavin will surely rue his matching of Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson. The performance of the Molinary brothers in their first match also wasn’t good enough. Cink however impressed and Kuchar improved a lot after playing badly initially.
Americans got access to this year’s Ryder Cup at 4am EST in which their team lost out to the Europeans by 13.5 to 14.5. The US team staged a major comeback on the last day but it wasn’t enough as the Europeans held onto their lead to win. This is a new record in Ryder Cup history that the tournament was completed on Monday.
The next Ryder Cup will be held on American soil at the Medinah Country Golf Club in Illinois.
