Clemson student denied bond in baby death case


Clemson University junior Richard Brandon Lewis, arrested and charged Friday in relation to the death of a baby girl who died in October 2009, was denied bond at a hearing Saturday morning.
Lewis, 25, is from Clinton, S.C., and remained in custody at the Laurens County Detention Center on Saturday night.
He is charged with homicide by child abuse and aiding and abetting homicide by child abuse.
Lewis was arrested outside Lowry Hall on the Clemson campus 11 months after 16-month-old Audrina Claire Hepburn died.
The baby’s mother, Ashley Nicole Hepburn, was charged with homicide by child abuse in October 2009. The relationship between Hepburn and Lewis is not clear.
Online court records had not been updated Saturday to show if Lewis is represented by an attorney
