POINT PLEASANT -- Thousands of people visited Point Pleasant this weekend, to celebrate and, like Autumn Smith, perhaps catch a glimpse of Mothman.
“I'm hoping he is (here,)” Smith said. “One of my teachers told me if I bring him back, I get an A automatically in that class.”
Ernie Brown, also known as the Turtleman, said he too is hoping to see Mothman.
“I haven't seen him this year yet,” he said. “I was hoping he would at least come down and shake hands with the Turtleman.” Maddy, a little girl at the Mothman Festival said she saw Mothman and even described him.
“He was black with sharp nails,” she said.
She said she wasn’t scared of Mothman, and Ernie Roush, a security guard, said she had no reason to be.
“He's a real nice guy, unless you mess with him,” Roush said. “He can be as mean as his red eyes.”
Mothman, actually a guy in a mothman suit, said he enjoys Mothman Festival.
“It’s really great,” he said. “But, I’m glad the sun is out, it really takes its toll on me.”
