The reports of seeing this man-sized creature with large reflective red eyes and having two moth-like wings, were made between November 12th, to December 1967.

The people who have claimed to of seen “Mothman” have also described him to be 7 foot tall, with an unusual shriek that was heard from a mile away. The skin was grayish or light-blue beneath its feathers, which varied in colour, and it possessed great strength as it had been seen lifting an object as heavy as a car.

On 15th November, 1966. two young couples from Point Pleasant were travelling late at night, as they were passing the West Virgina Ordnance Works, when they noticed two red lights in the shadows by a factory gate. They stopped the car and quickly discovered that the red lights belonged to an animal, shaped like a dog, but bigger, maybe six or seven feet tall with wings folded against its back.

Terrified they drove towards Route 62, where the creature supposedly chased them at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour.

Deputy Millard Halstead from the Mason County Courthouse said, “I’ve known these kids all their lives. They’d never been in any trouble and they were really scared that night. I took them seriously.”

Although he traveled back to where the creature had been seen, the Deputy found no trace of it.

The following night, on 16th November, armed with weapons the townspeople combed the area but only as they were heading back to their car did a figure appear behind it. The creature was reported to of been in a sort of laying down position, but then it slowly rose up from the ground, large and gray, with glowing red eyes.

On 24th November. four people allegedly saw a creature flying, and on the 25th November, a creature was reported along Route 62, standing in a field.

Several more sightings of “Mothman” were reported until the December, 1967, after which, he was never seen again.

There has been controversy over the sightings of “Mothman.”

Could it be:

Folklore?

Hoaxes?

A Misidentified Bird?

Supernatural?

Or could Mothman, of come from Outer Space?
